A lustrous early Carthaginian stater

CARTHAGE. Circa 350-320 BC. Stater (Gold, 19 mm, 9.22 g, 4 h). Head of Tanit to left, wearing wreath of grain ears, triple-pendant earring and elaborate necklace. Rev. Horse standing right; before the front legs, three small pellets. Jenkins & Lewis Group IIIh, pl. 4, 88-93 var. (unrecorded dies). MAA 4. A splendid and lustrous piece of beautiful style. Struck slightly off center and with a minor scrape on the obverse, otherwise, good extremely fine.

From an American collection, privately acquired from Classical Numismatic Group in April 2019 (inventory number 510717).
